PNE stands for Pudendal Nerve Entrapment. It is also referred to as PN, Pudendal Neuralgia, and affects the pudendal nerve in the lower pelvis. It is a source of terrible pain described by sufferers as “burning hot coals deep in my pelvis” or being stabbed by “a knife wrapped with barbed wire.” (See Taking the Shame Out of Pudendal Neuralgia.) For help and support as well as an active online forum where patients exchange information, go to Pudendal Hope. Many of us have both diagnoses, IC and PNE, but the connection is not yet understood by the medical community.
